Lovely fresh salt and pepper prawns Not to be missed!!! Best in San Francisco! Sweet and savory
Really nice homey spot for noodles and dumplings! I really enjoyed the braised beef and tendon noodle soup which had a great flavorful broth and tender beef. This spot is relatively small and very hole-in-the-wall but come for the food and friendly service. The noodles are handmade with a perfect medium thickness and the dumplings are nice and flavorful.
This may look like a small hole-in-the wall place, but does not let that full you. The food is fantastic... and justifies every positive review it recieves. This is not your typical "american-chinese" food and that may confuse some people when seeing the presentation, but the flavours are rich and satisfying. We have ordered Chili Oil Wontongs, and they did not dissappoint! Beef Chow Mein was tender, with overtones of garlic! But the highlight of the dinner was Szechuan Hot and Spicy Fish Filet! A very sizable bowl of spicy broth filled with vegetables, sichuan peppers and tender fish filet! Highly reccomend this place!
One of, if not the, best spicy beef noodle soup spots here in the city. In terms of overall flavor, portioning (broth to noodle ratio), and spice level... The beef is very firm, also very tender. An average person can enjoy and appreciate the time spent into the food here without any fuss. In other words, letting the food speak on its own. House of Xi'An Dumplings hits the nail with a hammer as to what a great bowl of noodles consists of. What more could one ask for on a cold winter day? House of Xi'An Dumpling doesn't get the recognition in comparison to it's neighbor restaurant (House of NanKing). With that said, I guarantee you, the food is 10,000x better at House of Xi'An Dumpling.
We came here looking for some braised beef noodle! Honestly thought it was quite good. The beef was soft and easy to bite into. Meanwhile the noodles i believe are made in house and are soft too. As for the xlb, i thought it was a little too sweet for me but not bad. We came around 9pm on a Sunday and the place was pretty lively. The service was very nice as well. He was very sweet and attentive to us.
Come here for the spicy beef noodle soup!! The soup is rich in flavor and the noodles and QQ. The noodle soup comes with a medium thickness noodle that isn't over cooked and still has that bouncy chew. The meet is tender and there are cubes of tendon. We also ordered some boiled dumplings which were pretty solid it wasn't standout. I would skip the sheng jian bao, the filling to dough ratio, had a lot of bread. Instead of a dumpling like skin, the exterior was more fluffy bao texture. While this may be a hit for others I was left with wanting more filling. Would come back for that bowl of beef noodle soup!
Dan Dan Noodles * ingredients: roasted peanut, chili oil, peanut oil, shredded pork, bok joy * on the semi spicy side which was perfect for my boyfriend - he rated it barely a 2/5 spicy level - it's enough to tingle your mouth a little but not enough to be dangerous * wish it had more meat and peanuts but still a really solid dish * would opt for the dumplings in future visits soup dumplings (8) * THE BEST! let me preface that we came here starving after badly timed public transit and i was so down bad that i forgot to take a photo!!! so sorry but trust these hit the spot so good im gonna dream about these soup dumplings. they're not reinventing the wheel by any means but 100% get them if you stop by chili oil wontons (9) * if you're a chili oil lover i have the perfect dish for you hehe the flavor of these heavily relies on the chili oil for the punch and the inside broth is also amazing. personally i preferred the soup dumplings over these but my bf would opt for these! it's up to preference but a really good staple for the dumpling side of the menu! service: 1/5 - every single person that came in (including us) struggled to know if we seat ourselves or if we stop at the front for a table. they were understaffed and had one person taking orders so we sat ourselves and had to flag down the waitress to take our order and ask for waters. once ordering we got the food as it was prepared which was ok since we were sharing everything but I could see how that would be slightly inconveniencing if you were getting individual meals for a group. overall just expect to spend some time here you won't be in and out and will have to be brave and ask for things as you need them. atmosphere: 3/5 - not much seating and kitchen half spills into the dining area in a fun way. they have bathrooms in the back which is always nice in SF. i honestly loved the vibe very nice and felt like it was energetic in the restaurant food: 5/5 - everything we got was delicious and tasted as expected. overall a very nice meal for a rainy day. we will 100% be back! price: 3/5 - you get what you pay for, just expect SF prices to be a bit more expensive than you might be used to. I do think it's slightly overpriced, but again that's the city you're in
My husband and I recently dined outside this restaurant with our pup when we visited Chinatown. We liked it so much that we then ordered delivery. Friendly service.
